Had one few years back. I think I paid $375 used in VG cond. Sounded great but was too big cumbersome and unwieldy for a pedal steeler like me. Dumped it for $350 trade in on a dead mint 67 Gibson ES 335 .Does anyone here play one of these things?? I liked it and hated it at the same time! bob |

Bob,
Are you talking about playing the ES 335?
If so, Yea, I've been a Guitar picker for nearly 40 years. I have just about played 'em all. Great "Blues" & "Jazz" Axe.
My DREAM axe is an AMERICAN MADE Gretsch, "White Falcon"..($6,000+).Lord, Thay just don't get any better that that, Unless, of course, it's a Gibson "Birdland". Yea, LOVE just holding an Axe from the "20's & 30's"....OK, 40's, 50's 60's.... |

Ron, No ,,I screwed up in my wording.... It was the Melobar that I liked and hated. Cool in a way,but a real oddball too! The 335 was a fantastic guitar, but like all my vintage stuff, was sold off. I was afraid to play them at bars etc,so why bother keeping them all over the house.. I sold a bunch of cool old guitars all at once and got out of the "vintage guitar" thing bob |

I play a Smith Melobar and have a blast with it. Mine's a 10-string currently set up as a 6. I have a wireless rig so I can walk out into the audience, check the sound of the band while we're playing, do a line dance, order a pint of Guinness (if I'm playing in the right place), and generally have a good time. I use it on sessions, too. I like having two pickups. |
