Jerrys Byrd invented two of them. They are his favorites:

E
C
A
G
E
C#
C

E
C
B
A
G
F
E

The first one is called A7/C6, the latter his "diatonic" tuning. On his Excel D-8, he only strings the top neck with 7 srings for his diatonic tuning. On his bottom neck he adds a low, low A note on the 8th string to embellish the above A7/C6 tuning.

Ric; The 7str. E-tuning you use is the same tuning that Shot Jackson used on his 7str. Sho-Bro. “BJ”

Great information from everyone. I especially like Jerry Byrd's A7/C6 tuning. Thanks Carl!
