Hi Don,
I note it is a 7 string. Reminds me of Shot Jackson's Dobro on which he had an E major
tuning.
The link is very interesting and makes a great resource site.
What tuning are you planning to use?

Hi, Roy. Season's greeting to you and yours as well.
The original setup is going to be a G6. Low to high it'll be G B D E G B D . I'll try that for a few months and if I find that E string causes me more trouble than it's worth, I'll go to G B D G B D G - high G.
Guitar should be ready about end of January. Can't wait  |

| If the E gets in your way in the middle,try putting it as string 7. I've done that and it doesn't disrupt the core G dobro tuning but it's there if I want it. Plus - because of the out of order string placement,you can play some nice syncopated forward rolls in minor modes among other things. -MJ- |

BTW by string 7 do you mean on the "low" side or the "high" side?

| I put it on the low side although you could put it on the high side I suppose - but to me it would kinda be in the way again.The only thing is to do it right,you would have to notch your nut to accomidate the out of order strings so as to have all the strings level.It's not real critical so at first,I would just see if I liked the arrangement before I started sawing on the nut. -MJ- |
