I always thought it was "There Goes My Everything" until I heard him do "The Last Letter". I guess I have developed some sort of hang up on this song but his arrangement is by far one of the best country songs I have ever heard. Any doubters? It's on the CD Best of Jack Greene. There is another good one on the same CD it's "I Need Somebody Bad" Awesome!

Billy, Jack cut "The Last Letter" again in 1984 on an album called "Jack Greene Sings His Best". I was fortunate to have cut that one with him,..but then that was easy after working with Jack & Jeannie for 7 years. It was truly my pleasure. Thanks for letting me drop in. Ron

You're right, Billy...Jack's TLL is a great classic! Some of his other songs which I think are great are...

Wanting You, But Never Having You
Ever Since My Baby Went Away
Don't You Ever Get Tired (Of Hurting Me)
I'm Still Not Over You
What Locks The Door
Too Much Of You
All The Time
Love Me And Make It All Better
Think I'll Go Somewhere (And Cry Myself To Sleep)
I Can't Help It

Etc., etc..

Man! He covered so many great songs by great artists, and he did a fabulous job on all of 'em!

Donny, Every one of those songs is good. I just plain like Jack's stuff. You Are My Treasure is a good one too. You would think I would learn to post by now.

Ever Since My Baby Went Away is my first choice, what a good song.
And then There Goes My Everything is tie with it. Two great songs.

I'll have to agree with Billy on "I Need Somebody Bad". The lyrics went something like this.

Lord I need somebody bad tonight,
I'm hurtin' like I never thought I would.
Lord I need somebody bad tonight,
Cause I just lost somebody good.

I also liked his version of "Love Me and Make it All Better". Little Bobby Lewis had a helluva cut on that one too. I think his might have been first....JH
