Don Joslin- I regret that you have slandered my topic with obviously uninformed opinions. Anyone with intelligence would know that the St. Louis Cardinals are the only team worthy of your attention! Seriously, are there any links to " Rodrigo Concerto de Aranjuez"? I would like to hear a snippet to see if I recognize the piece. |

Hey Jim,
Have you heard BJ Cole's version of Clair De Lune from his album 'Transparent Music'? It's a great album, somewhere between classical impressionism and Eno-esque ambient but unfortunately now out of print.
My 3 favourites (with the usual 'ask me again tomorrow & they'll be different' sub-clause) at the moment are :
1. One of the Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes by Britten (I'll take any one cos I love them all but today maybe Moonlight wins)
2. Miles Davis' version of Bye Bye Blackbird from Round Midnight with Red Garland's cool piano intro
3. John Belushi by the Broken Family band (cool alt-country ish band from Cambridge, UK who I've been lucky enough to play with a few times). [This message was edited by Matt Hutchinson on 05 October 2004 at 09:34 AM.] |

#1 Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin.#2 Amazing Grace by anyone.#3Hey Good Lookin Hank Willians. And yes Archie I think that song Ashokan Farewell does it to everyone. Always make me think of all people I have lost in my life. Some one should put that down a Steel and if there is Please tell me. Thanks |

As others have mentioned, there are thousands more that I love than just the three I am going to list, but here they are for now (and I left out Johnny Cash and Hank Williams just to make it fair):
(1.) That's Amore! -- Dean Martin
(2.) I'm Laying It On The Line -- Don Rich
(3.) Nashville Rebel -- Waylon Jennings
Thank you very much!
Yours truly,

Tough question, but I'd say my top three are:
1) God Only Knows (Beach Boys)
2) A Day in the Life (Beatles)
3) O Holy Night |

Don J., Jim C. and Jim P.
I just happened to be looking at this thread and listening to CD mix I made. The song playing as I read your posts... You guessed it. "Concerto de Aranjuez"! What a coincidence.
The version I'm listening to features Jim Hall on guitar and I think Paul Desmond on alto sax. Great music!
I could never pick a minimum of 3 favorite songs, but "Concerto de Aranjuez" would definately be on a longer list.
Keep on pickin'!
Glenn

I thought that guy Adagio wrote the Concierto de Aranjuez so that Miles Davis could play it on "Sketches of Spain." He seems to do OK with it, considering he used the wrong instrument. |

3000 favorites would be an easier question!!!
These should always make Top 100, though:
- When I dream (sung by Crystal Gayle)
- The grand tour (sung by Aaron Neville)
- Take the smile from your face (sung by Scott McQuaig)

You hillbillies are trying to make people think you're high class by namin' all them pop and classical songs. I know you're all ashamed of being country. Well I ain't. My three favorite would have to be....
Running Wild...The Louvin Brothers
Someday You'll Want Me To Want You...
by Elton Britt
Heart of a Clown...Wade Ray
Have a good 'un...JH
