I just want to say what a classy experience it was to open for Marty Stuart and his band Saturday night. During sound check I was given Marty's mandolin to play. I was awestruck. Marty Stuart and his band are the epitome of class. I talked shop with Kenny Vaughn for awhile. Marty and the band stayed after the show an hour to make sure that anyone who wanted a signed photograph got one. Marty Stuart is a classic. |

Marty is a class act, and is one of the most gracious performers I have ever opened for...
He can rock hard, but he's as country as a yard car on blocks |

I always thought Marty had the best sounding mandolin ( on recording ) I ever heard. Is it the mandolin, Marty, or the combination? |

Hey Leroy--y'know the song "Let's Invite Them Over Again"? |

I'd be too nervous to 'invite them over'. My wife would attack Marty. By the way, how can he look so young--he's not. |

A few years ago when Gary Hogue was still alive my band opened for Marty in Norfolk, Va. at the truck rodeo. At one point in the show Marty did a version of Merle Travis' "Dark as a Dungeon" with just him and the mandolin. Man, it was one of those things that made the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I think that was the best mandolin tone I'd ever heard in a concert. Whoever the sound man was that night, he had it nailed. I also got to hold "Clarence" for a couple of minutes which was nice. Have a good 'un, JH.

We just saw Marty and the band over at Laughlin a few weeks ago and enjoyed the show. The band was actually dressed nice in white and Marty in black. I forgot they did that anymore. Hell of a 4 piece band. I got the latest CD and theres steel in that release. Great bunch of pickers. |

This post would be a good opportunity to ask what model of Martin acoustic Marty was playing.
It had a handsome headstock and great clarity.
