Benefit For NRPS, Jefferson Airplane Drummer Spencer Dryden in San Francisco May 22
On Saturday, May 22nd at Slim's in San Francisco will be an evening of music in support of Spencer Dryden—New Riders of the Purple Sage, Jefferson Airplane and Dinosaurs drummer. Spencer recently lost everything in a fire and has serious medical issues. Many of his friends and musical compadres wanted to get together to lend a hand.
David Nelson & Friends will be there with special guest Peter Rowan and regular 'friends' Barry Sless, Bill Laymon, Jim Sanchez and Pete Sears. Also performing will be the Flying Other Brothers with special guests Bob Weir & Warren Haynes and Nick Gravenites with guests David Freiberg, Greg Elmore, Pete Sears, Rich Kirch, Jim Sanchez, Doug Kilmer and Linda Imperial. Also on hand will be Wavy Gravy and Chet Helms.
There will also be an auction of Rock & Roll goodies including a Painting by Grace Slick, a Signed Bass by Jack Casady, an Original Jefferson Airplane signed poster by Jorma Kaukonen, a Painted portrait of Spencer Dryden by Stanley Mouse, NRPS T-Shirts and Live Archive CDs from NRPS.NET as well as other various items.
Tickets are $40 and are available at Slim's box office and all tickets.com outlets.
An excellent cause and quite a lineup. If you're in the area, check it out.

There will be some competition that same night in SF. Robert Randolf is doing a free concert somewhere near Fisherman's Warf, with the Waifs and one other band. It's sponsered by KFOG, FM 104.5.

Uh, Dave my man. You've been in your room too long. The Rack is in Fremont. Are you going to be playing with the 7:00 band? Who is the band? I may just have to come out and harass you. |
