Hi - I recently spotted an 8-string triple-neck National steel guitar, serial number X83250. According to Gruhn's Gtr Guide, this is a 1957 model. I'm thinking about buying it but don't want to pay more than it's worth. I'm not very familiar with the value of nonpedal steels and wonder whether any of you can tell me the approximate value of the above guitar. I've researched Ebay and couldn't find a triple-neck listed. Altho' I haven't had the opportunity to play it, it is in good condition cosmetically. Your help would be appreciated. ...lefty

How much is it selling for, Lefty? I've not seen, I don't think, a triple neck National. Considering steel prices these days, if I had the money, I'd pay $750 for it. I'll bet if Bobbe had one for sell, it wouldn't be under $900 -- a triple-neck, that is.

NATIONAL made triple necks, many of them were painted black and white. They are a very desireable instrument....great tone.

I bought one last spring off Ebay for $425. It was in good shape, but had cosmetic blemishes. I also changed the amphenol connector to a 1/4" standard jack. By the way, it has a great sound.

Al - Thanks to you and the others for your responses. This guitar will be sold in at a live auction and the seller indicates he won't take less than $400. ...lefty
