Just bought a late 40's or early 50's B6, and would like to tune it to B6, ie, a half tone lower than C6, except the sixth string would be tuned to D. This tuning would correspond to the E9th pedal steel tuning, with the E's lowered, strings 9 to 4. Any recommendations for string guages? Since the scale is shorter than my Emmons S10, I know that the guages should be beefed up a bit. And since there are no raises or lowers happening, maybe the strings can, or should be heavier. Any suggestions?....Jerry |

Thanks for the replies. But does somebody have any hands on info on how they string their B6? The Joe Ely page is a great resource, but I'm looking for string guages specifically for the B6 guitar. If somebody tunes theirs to C6, that's close enough for me.... |
