I only heard part of it once but I remember these lyrics

"she was sittin at the table pullin at the label of a bottle that she just put down"

That may not be exact but does any one know the title and which album it is on? I thought it was a heck of a song but never heard it again and I thought I heard all Conway's songs.

Billy,
The song you are thinking of is "Next In Line" which I believe was Conway's first country #1 record from around 1968. I think also that this was Conway's first #1 hit that John Hughey played on.

You are correct, Malcolm. Just one of the many fine songs written by Wayne Kemp.

Yeah Tommy, Kemp's one of my favorite writers and he's a pretty dern good singer too.

You're right Steve - Curtis is co-writer on those songs. (Didn't mean to slight Curtis)I've got a CD with Curtis singing "Next In Line" and "Love Bug". I just dug it out and gave it a listen.

George Strait has recorded a few of the songs they co wrote also. Ricky Van Shelton also recorded some of Waynes.

Another song Wayne Kemp wrote and Conway recorded is " The Image Of Me". He used to sing that song in Flagstaff before he went to Nashville.

"My Eyes Were Bigger Than My Heart"....he used to also sing in Flagstaff and was recorded by Conway. Only on the CD it says Liz Anderson wrote It. This might have been the first song he wrote that got recorded. My guess is that when he got to Nashville he was short of cash and sold it to Liz. But I heard him sing that song to many times to know Liz was not the writer.

He used to really pack em in up there.

I heard Wayne left Nashville. Anyone know where he's at and what he's up to these days.
