Dan Crary, six-string flatpicking pioneer, was in my town last night, for a seminar sponsered by Taylor Guitars, and the local Taylor retailer.

I've admired his work since the 70s. It was great to meet and hear this fine gentleman perform.Awesome talent as a musician and a communictor.

Don't miss him if you have the chance.

Dan was, and is, one of my all-time favorites. He started in a group called the Bluegrass Alliance, and the guitar spot was held by Dan, Tony Rice, Sam Bush, Vince Gill(I think)... But it was a great band, and launched a lot of careers. Dan's playing has always set the bar for me, and his rhythm work is every bit as hot, and as tasteful, AND as hard to learn, as his lead licks!
I've been trying to learn "Lady's Fancy" since that album came out.
Maybe someday......

Vince has Dobro credits on an early 70s Crary album.

He has a web site http://www.dancrary.com

Yeah, that's the Lady's Fancy album. Vince plays sort of an Uncle Josh style, and Dan warns the world in the liner notes to look out for Vince.
