I saw that the Dixie Chicks were in S Carolina for their first concert in the states. Another group across town told folks that if they would turn in their Chicks tickets (at $66.00 a pop) they would donate the money to military families. The following morning an ent. guy said the Chick's concert sold out. What I wanna know is, how many actually attended? I think this donation thing may have backfired because it LOOKS like they filled the concert by ticket sales, but people DID turn their tickets in. I wish the people reporting would say what the "attendance" was. Anybody hear anything about THAT?

I think this vendetta/backlash against the band (which has included death threats) is ugly and un-American. Whatever happen to the idea that "I may disagree with what you say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it"? |

The news reported they were sold out with about 15 protesters out front with signs. As for the backlash/vendetta against the chicks they have the right to say anything they want because it is a free country at least for now. On the other hand they must stand to be judged for what they said by all who are listening. I wonder if they thought their record sales would go up because of the remark? Paul McCartney used good judgement when asked what he thought about it. He said he was a performer not a politician. That's a pro. |

I'm closing this topic because it's rapidly regenerating into a discussion of politics, not music.
