"I miss that station that I grew up on... KIKK, where it was real, and country, to the core" -
DW was very prophetic in "A Real Country Song" from several years back, seen it coming from a mile away? |

Wasn't that station in Pasadena,Texas? They were one of the few stations that ever played a song I wrote back in the sixties,Gabe Tucker from Houston produced it and I guess he had some pull with the music director there.

Neil, we better hope he wasn't prophetic on the next verse when he used WSM. |

Say what? I live here, and hadn't heard about this. Serves me right for listening to CD's in my car instead of the radio, I guess.
Well, we still have two other country stations in Houston, plus one up in Conroe/Huntsville. KIKK did play a lot of Texas Country, though. Fortunately, so does the station in Conroe. |

I'll be darned. It IS Jazz now.
And KIKK was sponsoring the second annual "Ten Man Jam" at the Arena Theatre next week, too. I wonder if that's still going on?
Oh, well, I'll be out of town, and to get in, you had to win tickets from KIKK. Would've been nice to see Kenny Rogers and several others perform acoustically, though. |
