I am writing to express that congress needs to get involved in the CARP proposal. I am a personnel music fan whose interests are not covered by the restrictions of consultants who do what their told based on unfair surveys and target groups.

I buy 100 to 200 CD's a year and travel often to hear live country and rockabilly music in Austin TX.
One of the main ways to expose other folks to my interests is online web broadcasting. A lot of these broadcasters do this as a hobby
and cannot afford the proposed fee's.

It also hurts any musicians who want to record and expose music their way without the filtering done by major labels.

On behalf of myself, all the wonderful fans performers and web DJ's, thank you for listening to my concerns. I look forward to hearing your response.

It is a very good idea to write your congressmen about this issue. Your letters do not get thrown out. They make a very real and big difference when it comes to lawmakers making decisions.
I have family working within the federal government and I was surprised myself about how much of an impact a personal letter from a constituent can make.

Hi to all. Rick Karr prepared a 4-minute report that ran on
this morning's Morning Edition program. When listening to this report, please note the
theoretical objections to Internet quoted by the reporter from music industry resources and Jonathan
Potter's (from the Digital Media Association) at the end about what will likely happen next. The
feed url is: http://www.npr.org/ramfiles/me/20020621.me.12.ram. Take
care.

How many of us will make money off this clause?

As a fan of classic and independent country music I thought you might be interested
in this comment written to the Save our Streams list(folks who worry about the demise of Internet radio

And without being asked to do so, the RIAA can (and will at some
point) force stations to pay for every promotional CD that has ever
been sent to them since 1998......in the artists name. They then
become the artists agent.

But keep in mind that the artists won't get that cash!

Why?

Because the RIAA is accountable to no one! There are NO RULES about
them finding an artist to pay them the collected finds. And if they
can't find the artist......they get to keep the cash!!!

Folks...what does that tell you?
