Well PMFP is sure what popped into my mind when I saw it!

Do you know anything about the pickup in that bunker? Is there a blade protruding into the slot? The ebay pics were quite fuzzy but I still can't make it out in the great pic you posted.

Does aluminum being non-ferrous have any lensing / focusing effect on the magnetic field ....ie why a slot other than getting the blade closer to the strings?

I believe there is a single large horseshoe magnet lying sideways .... feedin' the "juice" to the bobbin.

A single blade sits in that slot ..

Aluminum really has no bearing on the lines of force ... both air and Al have relatively the same Magnetic Permeability ... air = 1.0000004 ; aluminum = 1.00002


This is basically the same "set-up" as the more ornate National Electric Hawaiian.

I almost bought one in my quest for steel magnets ... now I wish I did
