Les, as serious as I am about jalapeno cheeseburgers, so am I about saying that Lloyd Maines is one awesome steel player.

I work on his steels, and somewheres around here I have his set-up. It's interesting because of some serendipity changes we found due to Lloyd's having a half-stop knee lever raising string 4 up to F and then up to F#. I recall I put a lower on either string 9 or 10 to act as a half-stop, but I don't recall if it was a whole-tone lower or half-tone lower, or on which string. But we both sat down with it and came up with some really cool fresh licks, I thought. Now I have to go through an entire office full of papers to find the damn tuning chart I wrote!

AHA! Marty is great too, but I don't work on his steels. He has fixed a few of my amps, though!

A buddy of mine gave me an mp3 of Barlight that is way different than the version on the 'Life of the Party' CD. Anyone have an ideas on where this might have come from?

Jon,
The original version of "Barlight" was on Charie's first release, "Bandera". I personaly like the first cut best.

Thanks for the info, Chris. I like parts of the first cut better than the second and vice-versa. I wonder why he re-cut it...
