Quick, hop a plane and get to Hawaii! Steel Guitar Week at the luxurious Halekulani Hotel on the beach at Waikiki is going on now! Here's the schedule:
Sat. Sep 13, 2003 Alan Akaka
Sun. Sep 14, 2003 Paul Kim
Mon. Sep 15, 2003 Hale Akaka and Jeff Au Hoy
Tue. Sep 16, 2003 Mariko Seki from Japan
Wed. Sep 17, 2003 Greg Sardinha
Thu. Sep 18, 2003 Bobby Ingano
Fri. Sep 19, 2003 Hale Akaka Jeff Au Hoy, and Alan Akaka
Sorry for the short notice. If you can't make these nights come to the HSGA Joliet (near Chicago) convention Oct 2-4, 2003 and hear this year's guest artist Hale Akaka. Two nights at the Halekulani should warm him up for a Fall Midwest appearance.

| Gerald, as I understand it, the 'featured artist' portion of the show has been changed from it's long standing usual time of(roughly) 8pm, to 6pm. This info was not relayed to the players until a few days ago and may result in at least one of the artists being unable to perform if not accomodated to the later time slot. Any idea why, on either account? It seems an unfortunate and unnecessary hardship on the players and attendees that could have been easily avoided. |

Ron,
I have no idea as to why the time switch. I am just relaying scheduling info I received from Hawaii.
I bet it's something stupid like the "Jawaiian" band needs that time to set up their equipment.
Sadly, the days of Hawaiian steel/music in Waikiki as the main attraction of the evening are long gone. It's happy hour entertainment now.
Well at least you can still hear it live.

| Does Casey Olsen perform regularly? I love his sound as heard on the "Hawaiian Steel" discs that Greg Sardinha produced. Greg told me at the Honolulu convention that Vol 3 should be out soon! |
