I'm looking for a Mesa/Boogie 12" extension cab, the original size that was made in the '80s. The new ones are narrower and deeper and won't stack right with my existing cab.
No speaker - just the cabinet. Prefer black tolex. Anyone have one out in the garage they want to get rid of?

Hi Bobby,
I'd be happy to make you one, I've even got some of that shiny black tolex that Mesa used.
I'll do whatever you want for $175 plus shipping. Here's a link to pictures of some of my work. http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/dunamisdesigns317/my_photos
Thanks,

Wow, that 15" Boogie cab is really nice! Is that Tolex the same as what Webb uses?
If I can't find a used one, I might take you up on that offer, Rob.

Thanks Bobby,
That was a custom 15 for a forum member's Mark 4. It came out really nice. I'm always searching the fabric stores for interesting materials and that was in the remnant bin, so I really don't know if Webb ever used the same stuff. I bought a bunch, but there's only a bit left, probably not enough for a 12 cab, maybe a small steel case.
Take care,
Rob |

That one has a speaker in it that I don't need, and costs more than I want to pay. I just want an old empty speaker cabinet.
There's a reason he has no bids - it's not worth his opening price of $199.
Thanks for the help anyway, Joe.[This message was edited by Bobby Lee on 01 June 2004 at 01:40 PM.] |

Three more on E-bay yesterday, but with Speakers. Starting price on one was $75 and $100 on the other two (I think). Still may not be what your looking for, but thought I give you the info anyway,

b0b,
Peavey made a 112SX cabinet that is very much like the Mesa's. I have three of them right now and the most I paid for any of them, with speaker, was around $100. They are very well made and have a removable panel on the back for an open back sound. Of course the Peavey logo is removable too, if you so desire. I modified one of them to accept a 15" speaker which worked fine. There was not room to put the 15" speaker in the opening in the back of the cabinet, so I had to mount the speaker to the baffle board then install it in the cabinet.

I want a Mesa cabinet because I already have one. It's for use with a stereo power amp. If the size and construction wasn't the same for both, it would sound funny. |

Still looking. I had a bid on one on Ebay, but it went for over $200! Way too much for an empty box, IMHO.

Bob, I've got the exact extension cabinet you are talking about and in pristine condition. The only problem is that I would need a cabinet to replace it with. If you've got a comparable one- or two-12" speaker cabinet, I would consider doing a swap to help you out.
The Boogie cabinet is the small one, black tolex, black grill cloth with four screws on the front holding the grill in place, partially open in back. Fits right under the old II and III amps. |
