I know Jerry Douglas is good, but I just heard an Alison Krauss song "Let me touch you for awhile" and I can't believe the solo I just heard. Had to tell somebody. Will

Pretty tasty indeed. I'm about two licks from getting it figured out. Funny, the part that sounds the hardest wasn't that hard!

Jerry Douglas is a guy who can make you like instruments you weren't sure you cared for otherwise. Lap steels are often deployed with all the sonic charm of a small chain saw. The way Jerry has played non-pedal stuff on Alison's records--ambient pads, sustained note fills--it sounds like an entirely different instrument.

I've had the opportunity to see JD play a few times with the Whites. We already knew ahead of time what to expect but expectations were far exceeded.

Get the new Dolly Parton album "The Grass is Blue". Jerry out-does himself on this one. The first somg on side one is outstanding. I just recently took up Dobro after thinking about it for years and I'm glad I did. Jerry is the Buddy Emmons of the dobro.

Jerry is my all time favorite Dobro player. Just fee-nomm-n-ull (spelled incorrectly on porpoise)

Even though Lloyd plays Dobro, I always thought of Jerry Douglas as the Lloyd Green of the Dobro: compelling smooth-yet-snappy phrasing, very emotive playing, and saying so much with a few notes.
