| I've Been Searching The Internet For Two Gentlemen Who've Had Hits Back In The 80's Or Early 90's.I'm Not Sure What Hits Ronnie Prophet Had,But Martin Delray Had A Hit With "Lillies White Lies".I Didn't Have Much Luck With The Internet,Maybe Some Of You Great Country Music Historians Can Give Me A Some Information On These Two Guys,And Where I Can Find Their Music. |

Ronnie Prophet is a Canadian (and that's probably why nobody knows him  ).
He's still around, although not as active anymore. He used to have a T.V. show here in Canada. I'm trying to remember the names of some of his better-known tunes, but they are escaping me right now.
Al Brisco used to work with him, and Al is coming to visit tonight... I'll ask him.

I seem to recall that Martin Delray had a really good cover of the Johnny Cash classic, "Get Rythym." I've lost track of him also though.

The following info came courtesy of Al Brisco:
- One of Ronnie's bigger hits was "The Phantom Of The Opry." I'd forgotten about that one. I know a big part of Ronnie's show was always comedy, and he used to do a very funny schtick in some kind of frog voice...
- He now has his own theatre in Branson, formerly the Willie Nelson theatre. Apparently he moved there from Nashville 5 or 6 years ago.

I saw Ronnie Prophet and his show in Branson
in August.
He is a fine entertainer and had a good show in a small, out of the way place.
While we were there he announced that he would have a bigger show at the Moe Bandy theater, starting in February of this year.
Ronnie and his group always come out during the break and after the show to meet the folks in the audience.

Ronnie has one of the BEST one-man shows I've EVER seen! It seems,whenever he opened for a "major" artist,alot ot them didn't wanna follow him,for fear of gettin' booed. If you EVER get a chance to see him,don't miss it.

| You're right on all the info. I've backed Ronny a couple of times a few years back and he really doesn't even need a band, he can do it himself. Another semi-hit he had out in the 70's or 80's was "Sanctuary". |

My wife, I and our 12 year old grandson saw the live Ronnie Prophet show in Branson last
September. Ronnie & Glory-Anne(his wife) and Guitarist Ray Wix put on a great show. They all 3 sing plus Ronnie & Ray are great guitar players. Sad songs, happy songs old and new songs, comedy, you name it they do it. Plus they mix with the crowd like a church social. Really talented, hard working people. I would really go and see them again.

RAY WIX....WOW! I haven't seen,or talked to him in years. When I first came to NashVILE ('6 ,Ray & I worked for Jim Ed Brown. As good a guitar picker that he is,I always wondered where he wandered off to. Good for him.

| I did an album on Ronnie years ago entitled "Just For You" on Cachet Records that did well for him. Later that album was available through television on TeeVee Records and went gold. I remember this particular country album because we recorded it in Jackson, MS, and Ronnie and I were the only white guys on it! All the other country players were black. Just goes to show. I saw Ronnie perform at the Opryland Hotel back in about 1983. He was wearing a white suit, (think John Travolta) and my wife pointed out that under the bright lights you could tell he had on black underwear. Just goes to show what she was looking at. I probably wouldn't have noticed.
