I just heard on XM satellite radio a pre-release cut from Loretta's soon to be released album. The song is a remake of "Sweet Thang" that she did with ET back in the 60s only this time she does it with AJ - WOW! The Coal Miner's Daughter still has that magic and coupled with Alan Jackson it's awesome. I doubt that you'll ever hear this on todays processed Hot New Country radio but watch for the album which is to be released soon. I assume it is Paul doing those licks that made old codgers like me fall in love with this instrument. Nicely done!!

I wouldn't be so sure of that.

And I certainly hope you're wrong.

I think it's going to get some real airplay.

With AJ on the song, it stands a decent chance of being aired. Loretta by herself probably wouldn't. She had a problem some years back with stations not giving her stuff any airplay.

Loretta has always been one of my favorites. Glad to see her back.

The Country All Stars opened for Loretta back in 2000 here in Santa Rosa. We hung out with the band for a little while, and really enjoyed her show. She's one of the few entertainers who can spend half of the time just talking, and not bore the audience.

The steel wasn't very prominent in the music. In a way I feel sorry for road players who don't get to stretch out a bit on stage. Seems like a pretty dull gig.

There's a great story about Loretta's early days from Speedy West here:

..I agree with you Richard..Alan Jackson is one of my favorites in country music..from someone not in the the music business I get the impression that he's the real deal, and he's in a position right now where he can get airplay for Loretta that she couldn't get on her own..

..he sounds like somebody who does the right thing because it's the right thing to do..

I'm a big fan of Paul Franklin, especially when he has AJ sing the lead. Loretta is sure to be sweet icing on the cake. She's always been among my list of favorites.
