Looks like a decent lineup. Everyone should remember that Jeff Peterson plays for Clint Black so we should all watch for Jeff. Who or what in the hell is a Gillian Welch?

......then what in the #$*d@mn hell is she doing on the Opry? Maybe she is a replacement singer for Del McCoury OR maybe, just maybe she will be the one who gets passed over by the interviews. We can only hope.

Gillian is NOT a folk singer.
She and Dave are about as rootsy country as you can get. They kind of have a Carter Family vibe going on.
(She's all over the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack)

If Clint does his "acoustic by himself" gig there won't be any Jeff Patterson (steel) around.

Damnit, there is nothing to complain about tonight. Jim Ed is a tradition, Diamond Reo Was good eventhough they had no steel. Stop and try to imagine how much better they would have sounded if they had had Tommy playing with them. Gillian Welch is anything but a folk singer. She and David Rollins were great, not much to look at but damn good singers. Travis Tritt did fine with some good shots of his steel player that I didn't recognize nor what steel he was playing and Clint Black filled the ticket perfectly with Jeff Peterson playing steel (I told you, Jack!). Jeff sounded great on his new LeGrande III and copped some good shots of both thanks to Teresa White. All and all it was a great lineup and I'm sorry that the Osborne Bros. were the weakest link tonight but I don't know who I would have kicked. One last note, I hope all of you noticed Tommy's new Derby. It is emerald green and is absolutely beautiful and sounds as good as it looks. I'm done now so do you have anything to add Theresa?

I was rotating between the opry and the end of Dr Zevago on DVD. Was Jeff P the only steeler aside from Jim Ed's? What was Jim Ed's opening number?

Steve Sturm was Travis Tritt's steel player. He was playing a Bethel and sounded great. Leigh, I didn't notice an excess of interviews. Seemed like the same fair amount of singing this week also.

I called him Tim but realized there is a Tim Sturm that I knew. That's what I get for thinking.

It would have been better if they cut some interview time and added at least 3-4 more songs.

I only got about the last 20 minutes of the show. I saw Jeff with Clint but since I'm not a Clint Black fan I didn't really pay that much attention to his set. I probably should have at least paid attention to Jeff but I didn't.

Hey Mike,
Don't want to be a nit-picker but that was Steve Sturm playing for Travis Tritt. Couldn't tell what his guitar was but he did
play a JCH. Maybe he's traded lately.

Caught the Sun morning re-run, as I had a late Sat nite gig, "that I didn't get 500.00 for" Not much of a show, without Tommy!

Listened to the Opry on AM 650 last night.
Who was the Steeler with the Whites, they didnt give his name but he was great.
Also caught Tommy White with Charlie Walker, he did his usual outstanding Steel work.

Jimmy,
that was Steve Wikerson on steel for the Whites. He and his wife also sing harmony with Charlie Louvin, where Steve also plays "lead" guitar.

Thanks Dave for the reply.
Steve did a great job on Steel and Lead.
I heard him play with Charlie later that night.
