I received , a few days ago, Gene's new C.D. "From The Heart" I had pre- ordered it from the E . Tubbs'record shop before it's release date on or about Aug. 11th .
Some of the first tracks have different sounds than Gene has had on his recordings in the past . The rest of the c.d. has some good old "oldies" that are more like Gene's type of music.
Over all, the C.D. has some fine stuff and especially Buddy Emmons' tasteful fills and solo parts . You can always count on Buddy for great tone and steel arrangements on every song he does no matter who's recording he is on .
I would highly recommend the C. D. to any
one !

Gene's new CD got a favorable mini-review from the Arizona Republic about a week ago. I heard a cut off it along I-8 around Yuma.
Gotta go get it!

I just purchased Gene Watson's new CD: "From The Heart". Ray Pennington/Gene Watson: Producers. Executive Producer: George Collier. Songs included: Next To Nothin'/She Had Me/The Man An' Me and You/Rose In The Sand/When You're Not Looking Back/This Circus That You Call A Rodeo/The Truth Is I Lied/Would It Be Cheatin'/Drivin' Me Sane/Take Me As I Am/No Trash In My Trailer/ and I Never Go Around Mirrors. Musicians: Piano-Dirk Johnson/Bass-David Smith/Acoustic Guitar-Bobby All/Guitar-Gregg Galbraith/Drums-Jerry Kroon & Milton Sledge/Fiddle-Mandolin-Aubrey Haynie/Steel Guitar- Buddy Emmons/BGV's & Harmonies- John Wesley Ryles. It is on RMG Records-#8202-2. Short Review: There is "NO FILLER MATERIAL" on this CD! Great songs, arrangements, vocals, and musicianship! According to the liner notes: Buddy Emmons came out of studio retirement to do this recording---now, what does that tell ya? Forum Member- Gregg Galbraith truely "shines"! The reason that I have gone to the lengths of listing: artist, label and CD#, song titles, musicians, and a short review is: to try and inspire people to "Buy This Recording". The "purchase" of this kind of product is the only "vote" that record executives recognize(they don't read The Steel Guitar Forum).

Thanks for the info. I heard about this awhile ago, but since there are no other Gene Watson fans in the house it's good to have the complete title when adding to the Christmas listl.

Tommy, I got my copy and just finished listening to it. Great CD!!....not only did Greg and Buddy shine, but every musician on the CD sounded extremely good! Everyone should get a copy of this CD.
Wal-Mart has them for $13.88.
Guy's, next time you're in Wal-Mart, reach for one, you'll be glad you did. |

I hear ya' Ron!
All that recording info will come in handy when I go and sit on Santa's lap this weekend.
Now, if I can just convince Ol' Saint Nic that I've been a good boy this year
Keep on pickin'!
