I happened to catch ACL last night [it used to be on PBS all the time, but rarely is anymore - around here] and a black singer/songwriter/guitarist was playing. He
was really terrific and sang some great ballads, blues, and humorous-type songs. The
band behind him was outstanding as well.

I think his name is 'Mo-Ev' or 'Bo-Ev', a
2-part name with 2 letters in each part.

Did anyone else catch him last night, or see him before?

I never heard this guy before or his music.
He played one great song, a ballad, that said
something like, ..."But under this (my) skin,
I'm just like you".

I'd sure like to find out more about this guy
and his band. NO STEEL, but really great music, especially his lyrics.

Thanks all, if you can help me here.

Chip

That's Keb' Mo', short for Kevin Moore. I saw his ACL a few months ago and it was a great show. He does some real bluesy, funky stuff and he plays great rhythm guitar. Check out his website HERE.

Thanks Michael for the info. I thought he
was really great. I've since gone out to CD NOW and he is on there allright, and the song
I liked is called "Just Like You" and is also the title of one of his albums [CD's].

Keb' Mo' is a well known name here in Michigan, thanks primarily to the promotional efforts of radio blues guru Robert Barclay whose show has been "on the air, everywhere" every Sunday night for many years. It airs from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM on CMU Public Radio and may also be syndicated on other NPR stations throughout the country. Robert Barclay is also a photographer and writer for Living Blues Magazine. And he digs Keb' Mo' and plays his records.

Thanks, also, Tim
I'll put the radio station in my notes
and see if I can't access it.

Keb' Mo' is a witty, funny songwriter. On
listening to him that night, there were many moments when he got me LOL.
