Six or seven years ago, I heard on a jukebox a song titled " Crippled Soldier " by Haggard. It was on a 45 RPM record. Thats all I know about it. Has anyone ever heard this song, and does anyone know where it can be purchased? Also in the early 60's I heard "The Brides Boquet" I am sure it was George Jones singing. I know Porter Waggoner has this song out, but has anyone heard the George Jones version? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Martin.

Check out Merle's site at www.merlehaggard.com
He also has Billy Mize's Tribute to Tommy Duncan recorded with the Texas Playboys now available on CD. It's really good stuff.
He has also done a gospel CD with Chester Smith that is super.

That fantastic song is on the Blue Jungle CD. I think it's called "Me and Crippled Soldiers". Great steel in the turnaround; sort of a battle field effect with those horns. Too bad Curb Records didn't know enough to promote Merle Haggard music.

As the son of a disabled, Purple Heart WWII Vet, Merle's statement hit home with me.

A very early live performance of that tune made the NBC evening news, but it was months later that it was actually released -- Curb wanted a whole album; dumbass.

Thanks Danawills and Ron. I went to Haggs web site and couldn't pull up the record, but I did send them an E-Mail inquiry. And Ron, if your Dad is still alive, tell him that I have the highest respect for him. That from a twice wounded former Marine, and Viet Nam vet. Martin.
