Well, Larry; the world's worst bass player has quit ! He took his things, the pick he had borrowed from someone, the chord I made for him and his broken mike stand that has the top part missing.

They loaded it all on a red neck pick-up; you know the kind where the dash has all of last years mail, some old playboys and hustlers and a map or two stuffed up against the windshield. And there are spaces in there for coffee cups or beers depending on the time of day.

His wife had been working behind the bar when he played but she got her hands stuck in the till and they let her go with him. I heard they were moving back in with his mother in Lizella. That always reminds me of Lizard Lick, NC where I used to play in NC.

If he winds up your way, give me a holler when he leaves so we'll know he's coming back. These guys never leave Mama to far behind. I mean what with free rent and groceries, a guy couldn't want more. It was so appropriate when we passed that joke around: What do you call a bass player with no girl friend ? Homeless !!

Regards, Paul

Hey Paul, thanks for the update, I'll be looking out for him, do you reckon he has enough gas money to make it to Music City? Did you try to teach him that split augmented chord? That's what did it! Be gentle with your next bass player, break him in easy, and be sure to tell him that country did not start with Garth Brooks! Larry

Larry; He ain't gonna make it that far. He can hardly get out of bed in the daytime !
I don't know how much she got out of the till but they have other essentials they need like those little pills and funny smokes so I don't think they're worried about gas money.

No, I didn't tell him about the split aug. Probably because I haven't got it down right myself. Dang screwy chord if you ask me but it sounds so pretty I can't let it go. A few more sessions in the think tank with chas and I may get it figured out.

I'm already taking it easy on the new bass man. He was a little (?) loud last night but
I considered the alternative and it was OK.
At least this one knows SGR. The WWBP asked me: "Did you make that up yourself ?" What could I tell him without breaking his bubble ? The band leader told him not to chew gum on stage. It wasn't that it looked bad but he couldn"t chew and keep the beat at the same time.

If my sides didn't hurt so bad from coughing I'd laugh about all this. This old smoke filled barroom has got my asthma triggered up so I breathe lightly. What do you think ? Would it be a good thing or a bad thing to die playing your guitar ?

There's an epitaph over in humor that tells my life's story: I told you I was sick !!

Paul, It would be ok to die playing your steel,as long as the tone was acceptable, and you weren't playing "Teach Your Children!" Larry
