There are very few things in that I HAVE to do at this stage in my life, and adjusting to ANY of The CMA's policies is just not included!!

$$ talk more than some idiot bean counter. The comments, in the Nashville Tennessean newspaper, were mostly negative or about problems. The CMA dissed them off as minor glitches.
I can't believe that the Fan Fair went from extremely close to being cancelled forever to a "rousing success". |

I get the distinct impression Mr Benson isn't interested in the "money", only the numbers. Afterall, "numbers" are easier to adjust!

I too am to old to adjust. I vote with my pocketbook, and I haven't listened to so called "country radio" in about 20 years, nor have I bought any "so called" country Cds/Tapes in about the same amount of time. I only buy reissues of the older recordings or some of the more obscure newer real country stuff that's no longer played on the radio (Daryl McCall, etc.).
As far as I'm concerned, the CMA can take a hike. They're not getting any of my money.
We recently got back from Branson and just about all of the older acts (Charlie Pride, Jean Shepard, etc.) that we saw complained about no longer being able to get air play.
It's really disgusting to me.
George

It brought money to Nashville and thats a plus? Then how come "country music" is down over 50% of what it was 10 years ago? Look at the figures and tell me things are better. No way, not over all,For you and I maybe Teresa, Not for country music in genral. Every body can see the statistics and they arn't good. A little more tradition would not hurt this town or the music bisiness in genral. If something does'nt happen soon , it will all be gone and we'll be a rap world,Things arn't getting better.
This is only my single opinion and does not represent the whole city of Nashville,I don't think it does anyway!

At least bluegrass seems to be alive and well. They are staying traditional, why can't "country" music. Blue grass is getting bigger and country music is getting smaller. Ones getting smaller by changing and the other is getting bigger by staying the same, figure that out! Look at CNN,boy, what a mess,Remember "Nashville Now"? "Prime Time Country",Ralph Emory?
Getting better? Nope, not at all! |

The country music industry is down 50% since 1990... How long has it been since Garth Brooks released a new CD? :-)
That is one thing that is wrong with this business model... a few mega-stars, not several dozen - sustained careers. But, if I had all of the answers, my name would be... Tony Brown?
:-)
