Live music variety show coming to CMT

Nashville once again will be home to a daily cable television program
devoted to country music, its artists and its fans.
CMT announced yesterday that it will televise a daily live show from the
new Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, beginning May 28. CMT Most
Wanted Live will run Monday through Friday 5-6 p.m. Central time.
Tom Forrest with Nashville-based Taillight Productions is the series
producer, said Jama Bowen, a CMT spokeswoman in Nashville. She said no
host has been chosen.
The program will feature artist appearances and performances, music
video debuts and input from live audiences and viewers through telephone
calls and the Internet site www.country.com.
Country Music Television, owned by New York media giant Viacom
International, unveiled the programming plans to 300 advertising
executives and their clients in New York. The plans are part of a larger
effort to create more long-form and special programs.
Prime Time Country, with Christian music artist Gary Chapman as host,
was the last daily country music talk and variety show to emanate from
Nashville. Cable channel TNN, also owned by Viacom, canceled the show in
September 1999 because of low ratings. At the time TNN was The Nashville
Network. Viacom changed the name to The National Network last year and
shifted its focus from country lifestyle programming to appeal to a
broader audience.
The new daily show is expected to boost the Hall of Fame's marketing
efforts. Kyle Young, the museum's director, said the show is a big part
of its overall effort to build the awareness necessary to draw the
550,000 people expected in the first 12 months. The new hall, at Fifth
Avenue South and Demonbreun St., opens May 17.
CMT also said it will televise live reports and artist and fan
interviews from this year's Fan Fair, June 14-17, and will carry the
11th annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge on June 14. =B2

| Being a cynic, and I probably should hold this till after they start the shows. But, I wonder what kind of "country" music will be presented? Will it be all kinds and include traditional artists such as those (still alive) that are in the HOF or primarily a showcase for the current "visual" artists. |

I recently read a Ralph Emery book where he predicts that Gaylord will launch another country station as soon as their non-compete clause for selling TNN expires. They still have the necessary assets in Nashville.

I saw about 15 minetes in the middle and left.
Top 10 videos including Billy Gillman and Faith Hill don't impress me.

I caught the show today and it better improve or it won't last long. Top ten videos everyday and a little country news won't do much for me. It's not worth sitting through videos for the news. I get better country news on the forum.
