Rayman,
I would suggest "Why Don't You Haul Off and Love Me One More Time". I know of a few more but can't think of the titles right now. I'll e-mail you when I remember them. Oh yeah, there's a good Simon Crum(Ferlin's alter ego) song "Country Music is Here to Stay". It's a hoot!

"I Feel Better All Over More Than Anywheres Else". Good "kicker opener".

"Next to Jimmy". It was recorded at a time when Jerry Byrd was giving his "last breath" to the dying non-pedal steel era in Nashville.
And his turn around is considered by many to be the most beautiful ever recorded behind a singer on a non pedal steel. Walter Haynes gets that honor behind Little Jimmy Dickens on "We Could" on pedal steel.
If you have not heard this recording by Ferlin Husky, do yourself a favor and, beg, borrow or s..... one and listen to it.
It is an incredibly beautiful piece of steel playing.
God richly bless Jerry Byrd and ALL of you,
carl |

I forgot about that one Smiley. You're my new super-hero. Another one is "The Letter You Promised To Write" I think Ferlin is one of the most unique stylist country music ever had. Also one of the funniest too. I'll keep thinking. Mike |

You know I feel like a big idiot. Tha song "Why Don't You Haul Off And Love Me" was done by everybody in the 50s and I was actually thinking of the song Smiley posted but that title came out. Although he might have covered it. I know that Hank Locklin had it out on the Please Help Me I'm Fallin' album. Sorry for the screw up. You're still my hero Smiley. Mike the Village idiot |

Here is a song "NOT" to use, but, one of my favorites anyway, Room For a Boy Never Used...always chokes me up. Now, if your doing a grand opening for a funeral home...Pat |

I just tried it. It works. If Jerry's turnaround doesn't bring a tear to your eye, you are dead! Jim |

Don't feel bad Mike. Been there, done that myself, more than once. Actually,"..Haul Off..") was written by Wayne Raney & Lonnie Glosson,& originally recorded by Wayne,on King Records. Wayne & Lonnie used to have ads in the back of,the publication, "Country Song Round-Up" for a guitar course,(Lonnie) & a harmonica course (Wayne). Of course, that was before your time Mike.

Smiley, I'll have to show you my collection of old sngbooks including C.S.R.'s. Granted I'm not quite your age but I grew up with this music and I still find the stuff from back then the best and most fasinating. Take it easy. Mike |
