Does anyone remember bandleader Charlie Call, part of the Californian club scene in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Some of his sidemen included Forum members Boomer and Herb Steiner, while Ron Still his bass player had his own group with the likes of guitarist Jerry Swallow and Ethan Reilly on steel.
Charlie was part of the scene that included Marvin Cave, Mel West and Garland Frady as bandleaders who seemed to delve into the same pool of pickers.
Any ideas on where Charlie is today?

Jason,
I don't have the answer to your question, however you kindled a related question.
What ever happened to, or where is, Marvin Cave???

Actually, that is a good question.
I'm not sure myself, the Booth Brothers and The Cass brothers who he worked with on and off, all seemed to have moved to Texas.
Garland is in Alabama and apparently his 1973 Countryside album is coming out on CD. |
