In my lifetime, I've owned a D–8 String-Master, and a Q–8 S/M. Both of them were 24½" scale, and I've seen a T–8 S/M's with a 24½" scale. I've also seen D–8's and T–8's with a 22½" scale. What I've never seen nor heard of is a Q–8 S/M with a 22½" scale. Has anyone ever seen such an animal? Shot Jackson built a Q–10 Sho-Bud for me, but; it was a 24" scale. I'm not looking, just curious! It would be interesting to see one and dream!

They did make the Stringmaster in all scale lengths. I've owned a few, both 22 1/2, and 24 1/2" scale. My preference has always been for the 24 1/2" scale length.

Dana; Are you referring to a 22½" scale Quad-S/M? I've never seen one of those, but; my preference has always been a 22½" scale for any Steel Guitar! I even built a 22½" scale Sho-Bud-Copy in 1960.

John:
Yes, I was relating that Quad Stringmasters were made in the 22 1/2" scale lenghth--I've had 2 or 3 pass through my hands. Quads are hard to find period, Fender didn't make too many!
