Help! I remember a recording by guitar player Phil Baugh that I heard years ago that was pretty neat. It featured Phil sounding like all of the instruments in the band, one at a time, and then put together at the end. The only part I can remember goes like this "The steel man lost his bar one night, but the bass man found it first,was in his girlfriends Cadillac, it seems he thought the worst,.............,Phil had to make his guitar sound just like a steel guitar." I would like to find a copy of this somewhere and I don't remember the title. Can anyone help me with any info? Can I buy a casette version from someone? I sure would appreciate ANY feedback. Thanks!

| Would that be the same record where he imitated many of the popular guitarists of the time (Les Paul, Chet Atkins, etc.)? What a great record and what a great player. When I was living in California and doing week-end jam sessions in the sixties and early seventies with Al Bruno and Phil Baugh, Phil would take the time to show me short cuts on different things I was trying to play on electric guitar. I probably learned more from him than just about anybody one on one. Best, Boomer |

Phil had two proper albums issued on him in the 1960s. The Longhorn album with Vern which was previously mentioned, plus the California Guitar album from 1969 on Happy Tiger/Era Records.
For some reason the Longhorn material (yep he cut a few singles for them too)can be more easily found on vinyl auction sites.
