I am visiting Arizona again and have gone to the Buffalo Chip in Carefree twice. The Pat James band with Danny Snead on steel is great. They play alot of the old standards, and Danny is as good as they get. He plays the ballads, fast stuff, swing stuff-he plays it all with style and taste(and ease) Recently Mike Smith has been next door but he isnt there for a while now. Talk about being in heaven-the Arizona desert at night, great country music, smell of mesquite fire wood, great steel playing, pretty cowgirls to look at-it dont get any better than this. (the brisket was great and cheap too !!) If you are ever out in AZ way, be sure to take the time and go to Carefree/Cave Creek area and hear them play-you wont be dissappointed-I garantee !! Between that place and Big Balls in Cowtown in Fort Worth, a man could spend a lifetime !! |
