Ray Corbin recorded an ode to Hurricane Shirley about 30 years ago. I have often wondered if it could be taken literally. From the tone of the posts i have seen on this forum in the last year or two, apparently it is all true and then some. Wonder if Corbin was singing from personal experience? |

YES, JERRY--BOBBY GARLAND WAS THE ONE AND THE SAME--I ALSO REMEMBER BOBBY BELLE--SANG GOOD, TOO, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY--HURRICANE SHIRLEY WAS A LEGEND AROUND THERE FOR YEARS--ALL TOO TRUE--EVEN MORE THAN THAT--OF COURSE, YOU REALIZE I'M TALKING FROM HEAR-SAY, AND HAVE NO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IN SUCH MATTERS-- |

Who was it that did Ray Corbin in? Ex-wife,or Shirley,or who?? And how?? I've heard several stories on this. The one that sticks in my mind was,he was performing on the bandstand,& some gal just came in,pulled out a gun,& shot him. Any truth to this, anyone?
BTW,it was Ray Corbin who,I believe, wrote & recorded,"Come On In And Sing The Blues To Daddy".

Apartment No. 9 has really had an interesting life. Recorded by Ernest Tubb in 1967, Buddy Charleton on the steel they list
3 writers. Johnny Paycheck-Fern Foley-Charles Owens. Too bad the song can't talk. What a story. Al |
