Bill Anderson announced it on Backstage last night and said there were over 500 in attendance. He said he guessed his invitation got lost in the mail!

Ouch! I guess Vince won't be doing any spots on the Opry anytime soon. Our local paper said it was a small wedding with just a few friends.Sounds like he invited all of Williamson County

That's fine as long as they quit professing their 'Christianity'.

Uh Oh I forgot about G.O. working for Vince. This could be trouble!! He might need to borrow money from me. Well the jokes on him, I'M A RETIRED UNION MUSICIAN. I guess that covers a couple threads. Just kidding of course. Hello to all my friends on the forum. Richard

Unfortunately, there's a couple of "jilted" ex's out there that may have "meant" their wedding vows when they first recited them. I'm not trying to preach, just my humble thoughts.

I can't pontificate on this one, as I would be the proverbial person throwing stones in a glass house. All I can do is offer best wishes to the bride and congratulations to the groom. By the way, "retired union musician?" isn't that's what's called an oxymoron? Best, Boomer

"Quit professing their Christianity"

Why??

"For ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God"

Carl, of all people, I would think you wouldn't need an explanation! In the passage you quoted, 'sinned' is past tense. I think it is improper for someone to witness about their 'faith' while currently and actively engaged in sinful behavior. I thought you supported the sanctity of marriage and traditional family values.

I hope they'll both be happy even if it means one or two fewer hard core, hurtin' country songs from Vince.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions about what sins were present in this relationships development. I guess I must have missed some "facts" being made public on this one.

Like that George Jones song says, "The only thing different in sinners and saints, one is forgiven and the other one ain't".

The "moral" of the story then, be careful who you wife is friends with, she might end up marryin' 'em! By the way what ever happened to loyalty and committment? Guess that's just to "old fashioned".

Probably off the subject but I finally heard the difference between a spiritual person and a religious one: A religious person lives in fear of going to hell; A spiritual one has already been there --Gary Busey, 1999. Best, Boomer

Bill,
They, still, wouldn't let me in because, your tie didn't go w/ my tee shirt.
BTW,the reason Bill Anderson didn't get an invitation,Bill Anderson spelled backwards is D-O-R-K.

Can anyone say "holier than thou?" I knew you could.

Personally, I hope Vince and Amy are happy, and I'm sure anyone looking down their noses at the couple will not blemish the Gills' happiness at all.

why does someone else's personal lives mean so much to so many? Heck did we forget the reason they put erasers on pencils? Everybody makes mistakes, and we are only responsible for our own.

Does anyone really give a crap about who marries who? How does this affect any of your lives? How does it affect your steel playing? Isn't that what this forum is supposed to be about?

You mean as opposed to who got married to who? THAT'S steel related?

BTW, my posts were only in reference to outward professions of belief in contradiction to ones actions. I'm not offended by their marriage (like that matters). It's not my business but I think it's counterproductive to 'witness' for your convictions when it's obvious you don't really believe them. That must raise questions for people trying to make up their minds. As long as there were no minor children in either relationship then so what. I'm not judging them as long as they don't try to pretend their marriage is sanctioned by their professed belief system. It isn't.
