There's a lesser-known award given out to some of the coolest music out
there, some of which gets on the radio, but most of which doesn't. It's
called the "Indie Award." It's the equivalent of the Grammy for independent
labels and is given annually by AFIM (Association For Independent Music).
This year, the awards will be given out in 47 categories on May 6 in
Cleveland.
The finalists were chosen by a panel of five judges in each category from
recordings submitted by the independent labels themselves. Five new judges
with expertise in each category will then choose the winner.
Country:
"Lonely Planet" -- Bellamy Brothers (Blue Hat)
"She Rides Wild Horses" -- Kenny Rogers (Dreamcatcher)
"Sisters Wade" -- Sisters Wade (Blue Hat)
"Hillbilly Heights" -- Roger Wallace (Texas Round-Up)
"What I Deserve" -- Kelly Willis (Rykodisc)
Kudos to Marty Muse for his work on Rogers album
