Just came home with a CD I bought second hand by the Nashville based band "Lambchop". The name of the CD is "what another man spills" and has some very beautiful Steel by a guy called Paul Niehaus on it.
Does anyone know these guys?

Really nice stuff.

I'm trying to remember there's a couple of main members, but basically the group has a pretty loose line-up, there's Kurt and Jonathan who used to do interviews for the group some years back. But I can't even tell you their last names without really digging up some info. {Actually it's Kurt Wagner, he's been on every alb and writes most of the material}

They tend to get lumped into the Alt. country tag, but will never get the chart action of bands like Wilco.
Their debut album 'I Hope You're Sitting Down ' is from 1994 and came out on the Merge label, which is generally better known as a punk/alternative rock label.
I've heard most of the CD's and recommend them all. The 1996 one is very orchestrated, like Billy Sherrills Nashville worl circa 1971 to 1975..but not retro though.

CD's {that I know of}

1994 I Hope You're Sitting Down Merge

1996 How I Quit Smoking
Merge

1996 Hank
City Slang

1997 Thriller {ep}?
Merge

1998 What Another Man Spills
Merge

2000 Nixon
Merge
