Thanks for the warning. I can save some
wear and tear on my satellite dish motor by
not heading toward TNN tomorrow night.

Thanks again, Janice, for the weekly

I never unstood the stretch of someone's imagination that makes Leroy Parnell "country". I enjoy playing his tunes (good slide parts), but to my ears he's about as country as Bruce Springsteen.

B J Thomas - wasn't he a bubble gum star in the 60's? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Country music brought me to Nashville 32 years ago.If it gets any worse I might need to find another place to live. Its not music that keeps me here now,but I'll stay if we can pull off this coup.Come on Smiley we're counting on you.
We have a public access station here in Nashville and I had it on and Marty Martel was on doing an editorial about the Opry staff band.Think he was reading from his written version.

Folks it was a decent night.

Jean Shepard was good about showcasing her band.

Leeroy Parnell had great reverence about being a buddy of Doug Sahm. he mentioned talking to Doug early this week.
It was fitting he would perform Is Anybody
Going to San Antone along with his number from Happy Texas.

B J Thomas opted for his randition of I'm So
Lonesome I Could Cry and Another Somebody
Done Somebody Wrong Song.

I thought that Dave Robbins sounded great with Jean Shepherd. She had Scott Sanders playing dobro for her as well. I've heard some Southern Gospel records by a group called the "Crabb Family" where Mr. Sanders was playing PSG. But, I didn't know he played dobro.

Even if you hate steel guitar the two songs "San Antone" "I'm So Lonesome" sure could have used a steel for backup...there was a hole big enough to drive a truck thru on both songs. Somehow the empty steel chair on both numbers spoke volumes as to what is considered country these days and the state of the Opry. Yes I realize both performers do not use a steel in their regular stage act. Pete
