There's a review in this month's Guitarist magazine. On the sample CD it sounds OK, like an aluminium necked Strat if you can imagine.

Can one adjust the tone by varying the amount of oil one puts into the can? What if your picking is a quart low?

25 years ago while i was working in a Musik store in Paris this African street sweeper came in w: an axe like that which he had built himself.
it had 4 strings on a broomstick hooked up to an oil can
he was lookin' for a battery powered amp and a pick up so he could go back to his village in Mali on vacation.
as we managed to get him set up, he did play to see if it sounded right to him and i must say that i liked what he played.
sounded funky but nice and exotic

Just don't forget to use a lower viscosity if you live up north. And don't forget to change strings every 3,000 miles...OK...I'm going back to work now... |

YEP, I played one of them 2 years ago, when I met the guy who makes them. They were 1/3 of the price then and I explained to this guy that I did not like the unfinished ends of the frets. They were cutting the inside of my fingers. He said he is working on it and I think it has been fixed now. In addition, the guitars are neck-heavy; unbalanced. I have never plugged one in an amp, but I have been told that the sound is good. Nobody could tell me if the aluminium neck detunes a lot.
They are really fun guitars and I got a feeling they are short scale guitars. But I also think they are a bit of a gimmick.
