*** Seller out of facility and hocked the steel at a great loss *** From what I hear, doubt he'll get it back. OK to close.
Unable to confirm, but have on an unreliable source, a black mock-Fender S-10 student model 3x1 (Maverick style) once played by Jimmy Day in a long lost 3rd cousin's basement that was supposedly used by a lesser known player for an Elvis recording session in 1975 on one song. Although the song was never released, the seller claims the "King" unexpectedly and all of a sudden, barfed on this axe at the end of the session. The seller, who can only make collect calls and wishes to remain anonymous, has never cleaned up the stain, but claims DNA testing will reveal it's authenticity. Seller hopes to soon get his digital camera out of hock when next on work release to have pics of steel and stain available to only the most serious of potential buyers. Asking price $4272.89, but is negotiable to those who sincerely want to be part of and support steel guitar history. Posting for a friend's cousin who's not on-line, but claims this to be true. Follow-up response on this link for more info and contact details to follow.

I'd remain anonymous as well, if I were trying to sell this to someone.
Is the seller in prison? Is that why he can only make collect calls?

Where does the .89 come in? Seems like it should be something like 4275.00
The decimel in the price should be moved at least two places to the left!
Surely this is a joke.........................[This message was edited by Curt Langston on 05 December 2006 at 11:37 AM.] |

I actually have an also unreliable source who in fact was the banjo players cousin at that session in the basement ( which was a garage, not a basement ) and he tells me it was actually a bet to see who could vomit farthest, the king winning by a bass length. The steel player came in a close second nearly reaching elvis' flip-flops. I was told also the vomit is mostly PBR and corn-flakes which looks like a crackle finish on the steel, very desirable nowadays. The steel actually first belonged to Ralph Mooney and was the very one burned and buried in the desert, dug up and refinished to look like a mock-Fender, also very desirable. However this steel as I understand is a stolen instrument, which was purloined in a daring midnight caper shortly after its pedigree was faithfully established. I will totally buy this historic instrument. Please close this thread........Please....... Quickly. |

I have already worked a deal to buy the guitar through escrow. I will put up 5000.00 "earnest money", then 12 payments of 1299.00.
That was the only way I could be sure to be the first in line to get this wonderful piece of history.
I plan to sell scrapings of the Kings vomit for 1000.00 per Mcg.(microgram)
I already have buyers lined up for the vomitus.
A little known fact:
There is a cult following of vomit connoisseurs that are eager to purchase this rare vomitus from the King.
If I play my cards right by wise investments, this deal could enable me to retire! |

There is one big flaw with this story! The Fender steel discribed was only manufactoured in 1976 ( 4400 Fender guitars built by Sho-Bud, all made in 1976)
The things you learn on Steel Guitar Forum!!

I have a Sho-Bud Maverick that a friend vomited on while drinking "The KING" of Beers. Although it was cleaned up, unlike the one Elvis heaved on, I'd let it go for a lot less, say $1417.36? |

This may be the best "for sale" post in Steel Guitar Forum history. Thanks for posting it, Doug.
Asking price $4272.89. Say wha?? How did he come up with such a precise figure?
I remember reading about a "possible Elvis toenail" for sale, supposedly found buried in the shag of the Jungle Room at Graceland. Don't know what it went for, but I imagine that Verifiable Elvis Spew would bring more...

Don't laugh too hard, people will surprise you...
I worked in a music store in S.C. in the 80's. After re-arranging the display cabinets one day, I ended up with a couple of feet of empty space. The jokester in me went back in the repair shop, and brought out a bunch of junk which I labeled as "Rusty 9-volt battery from Hendix' Cry Baby- Isle of Wight Festival-$399", "Used Clarinet Reed picked up after Goodman 1939 Carnegie Hall Concert -$650", "Broken toy guitar neck from Pete Townsend's first guitar- $1100", and so on.
Around a third of the store visitors would laugh and point stuff out to friends. Another third seemed to think it silly or ignored it. But fully a third of the customers would ask if a C.O.A. came with the Townsend guitar neck, or if we'd take less for the Hendrix battery...!
I finally took it all down when the store owner actually sold one of the "displays"...[This message was edited by Mark van Allen on 07 December 2006 at 10:19 AM.] |

Thank you for your contributions to this post. I haven't laughed this hard in at least 20 years. My wife thought I was ready for the "funny farm" so to speak. I have finally been able to stop rolling on the floor long enough to post this reply. This is truly a Steel Guitar Forum Classic. |

I can custom throw-up on anyone's instrument and will sign to its authenticity. Who knows, some day I might be famous ! Think of it as an investment in art... |

believe it or not, a guy out here in NZ was playing in an outdoor cattlepen, when a cow backed up against the railings and let fly all over the end of his D10 Sierra !!!.... the really funny part was, he just wiped it off with his hand and kept playing. Rumour has it that he still hasn't cleaned the guitar some 10 years later ....he's probably realised that it has added value to his future sale options!!
