Is the "pad" removable or is it an actual part of the guitar?

the pad is removable, it will not fit in the case with the pad installed, it is easy to remove and can be played without the pad but i just like to have some place to lay my hands as im use to using a sd 10 with a pad

I just want to clarify, this is a student model guitar. We do not have knee lever kits available for them.
