Beautiful, rare early blonde Emperor from the 2nd year of the natural finish, this guitar is outstanding in every way. Massive sound, powerful, and classy and gorgeous in the looks department. There's nothing like a pre-War Emperor, possibly the finest big band guitar ever built.
Highly figured tiger flame maple back, sides and neck; hand carved solid spruce top; 7-piece maple-walnut neck; 7-ply ivoroid body binding; triple-bound heel cap, neck binding, f-holes and head stock; solid Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with "split-block" mother of pearl inlay; ornate pearl tree-of-life peghead inlay.
Body size at lower bout: 18 1/2". Scale length: 25 1/2" Nut Width: 1 11/16"
Original gold hardware, including Frequensator tailpiece and 16X1 Butterbean tuners; adjustable compensated ebony bridge, Epiphone truss rod at fingerboard extension. Great Repro pickguard.
This guitar was purchased from LB Fred, author of Epiphone: The House of Stathopoulo, and restored by the great Mike Lennon (whom Stan Jay of Mandolin Bros. said to me "he's the only one I would recommend"). The restoration involved a neck reset, new frets, a binding repair and a complete refin, which is as good as it gets. The guitar is essentially like a new 1940 Emperor. This is a player's instrument of the highest magnitude. Comes with original French pigskin Lifton case in excellent condition.

Mike, I'm not a prospect, but a serious admirer. Whoa Nellie! What a beautiful guitar. That guitar should go to someone who can play it as it should be played.

| I have heard and played one of these Epi's. It is the real thing; punch, beauty, it has it all. I would take an Epi. of this vintage over a Gibson anyday. |
