I contacted the seller about his shipping scam. Somebody will probably buy it w/o checking.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the heads up on the Vega steel. I have one exactly like it in dead mint condition and it needs a case. While I don't dig the shipping scam part, I think that $221 shipped is a fair deal for a pretty cool old lap.

Ed, if you want it, the seller got back to me with a reasonable shipping. Don't wait, jump on it.

I tried to email you but it came back as failed delivery.

I got a message from eBay not too long ago, seems like they are FINALLY going to do something about sellers who pad the shipping costs, it should be going into effect pretty soon.
I know what you mean about not hitting the button, I've been burned a few times by not paying attention and reading ALL the shipping info.

I don't see how EBAY can do anything about Shipping and Handling costs. Basically it is not there business.

IF I choose to be a Loon and charge $500 shipping/handling on a pack of Baseball Cards..thats not there call..it's mine.

The only thing they CAN do is attach a fee to the total including shipping as well as charge a PAYPAL fee for the total including shipping.

Currently folks charge a minimum for the actual product and raise the shipping/handling fees because there are NO fees associated with S+H either for Ebay or Paypal.

And, no reported income on S+H...

Make it all income and force the Seller to differentiate the fees and costs at IRS time in April. For a business, all associated fee's and shipping fee's are a Direct line item expense.

Like many here, I contact sellers directly and negotiate shipping fee's, in most cases it has been positive.

Here's a great example. This guy sold these 25 Ipods for $.01 but charged $4625 for S&H. I guess this way there is no fee from eBay.
