Hi Folks,
I made this Gibson Firebird copy a while back for my own use. She absolutely wails.
The body is one piece Honduran mahagany.
The neck is set with a jumbo dovetail (also mahagany)
Fingerboard is Indian Rosewood 25" scale length
The tuners are nickel plated Schallers
Pick up is a Seymour Duncan "Antiquity" P-90
Bigsby USA B-5 trem with a nickel plated Schaller tunamatic bridge.
Straplock strap buttons.
Switchcraft electronics---vintage style braided cloth wiring.
The finish: I went for a hot rod vibe. She's black with flattener added to the clear coat. Totally satin. To further the "no shine" look, I matted the pickguard, chicken head volume knob, pick up cover and jack plate.
I also "satinized" the Bigsby and drilled and bevelled the holes to emulate the droped axels on a roadster
Very, very few dings (two small dents on back the size of a match head each but not through the paint.
With good quality gig bag-
$500 plus shipping (depends on where ya are)
I can email more picks

Beautiful. Did you make the neck yourself? What does the headstock look like? |

Thanks guys!
I did make the neck myself. I used a 9.5" radius on the fingerboard, and kept it a little "beefy" like a Les Paul. Here's the head stock....
I went 2 and 4 with the machine heads rather than 6 inline to cut down on the length of the headstock. It doesn't feel as neck heavy like the originals do. I didn't put my "Lap King logo on it but I could if someone wanted me to. Like hot rodders taking off all the chrome name plates, I went for the same vibe. (gotta stop watching "Overhaulin" |
