I've had my Dobro for a couple of years but never really fooled with it and now I'm starting to play it a bit but it needs strings. I was wondering who's strings are you reso players using and what the gauges are for the tuning your using?

Thanks

I've used the Martin resophonic string sets for the last couple months. They're inexpensive but don't last long.

I use John Pierce's nickel wound set intended for G tuning but I usually tune to open D, E, C#m, or A6th.

I usually change the .16 to a .18 and the .18 to a .20 Gives a little heft to the tone and sound,, Wouldnt use any larger. Oh yes solid .18 and .20

Be surprised how much difference it makes

I've been a D'Addario man 'all my life' but after 'accidentally' trying the Newtone strings there's no looking back.
Amazing strings, and when I put on a D'Addario set for ol' times sake they sounded dull and lifeless compared to the Newtones...

I use GHS Phosphor Bronze heavies, .014 to B58 on my reso. They are in the middle range of bright and mellow, plus they hold up well under salty air and humidity and are pretty loud. I find I get a better price if I buy by the box.
