This guitar was built by Mike Howlett/Island Koa about 10 years ago. I bought it 6 years ago from the original owner after the top began to lift a bit around the bridge and a 2" tight crack formed in the center seam at the bottom end(of the top). There are also a few scratches on the back as if from a belt buckle on standard guitar. Since this was the finest sounding Weissenborn I had ever played, I took it to John Zender at McCabes Guitars in L.A. to see about repairs. He said there wsan't much that he could do without effecting the tone but that everything was stable and the crack couldn't progress beyond the brace it had stopped at. This has in fact turned out to be the case and the guitar is in the same condition as when I bought it. There is obviously a simple tone/strength trade off going on here. This guitar weighs perhaps half of what my Superior Weiss does and I've got to believe that is the main factor in its unbelievable sound. Email for photos. Comes w/case. $950 + shipping
