I traded it off a guy from GA. Duluth, I think. Interesting connection GA & MN.

I've never seen the end plates project as far out as they do on this Zum. Looks unique and rather cool. Were these only put on certain model U12s? Steve |

Dunno' Steve. Help?
The ends are not as scuffed as they appear. Mostly reflections, I think.

The endplates on my 2003, U-12 ZumSteel are identical. I know that the endplates on the D-10's are thinner. Really don't know why, though. |

Yep, the endplates on my '90s Zum U12 are the same. Hi, James, I lived in Oxford around 1960, when I was in Jr. High and High school. I played in a rockabilly band with Jim Seay, whose family owned the Mansion Restaruant. [This message was edited by David Doggett on 24 March 2005 at 10:13 PM.] |

James played for our family quartet back in
the early eighties. I was a 13 year old
kid playing drums at the time. He got me to
thinking about playing the steel. A good
picker and family friend.

The endplate castings for the single neck Zums have not been modified for years (if ever). The 10 and 12 strings are the same casting. They are made with the "projections" to give approximately the same footprint as a doubleneck. I like 'em!

Hi,
A beautiful and unique looking steel. Is that ash or oak used in the body? How much above $2000 are we talking? I can't quite tell by the pictures how many knees it has?
thanks,
Junior
