Our bandleader of Antiques and classics, Don Thorpe, is seriously ill and probably will pass on in a week or so. He has asked that I dispose of his equipment and give the proceeds to his widow. After Dons death I will post an inventory to include a black face Fender twin rev, an epiphone les paul, a gibson Les Paul a PA setw/speakers plus other misc. Prices will be fair and to sell and will include shipping. All the equip is in good order. I will send pics snail mail for those interested. I will post again when Don passes. CC

Warmest waves and prayers for Don and his Family. May God's will be done; ...lest we be at the bus station when our Chariot comes in.

Aloha,

for those of you who have inquired, Dons bedroom where hospice is holding forth is next to his music room so I will have to wait for his passing before I can inventory. I do know that the Gibson Les Paul I mentioned has on the headstock Epiphone, Les Paul in script, and Gibson in small letters next to the nut. One of the amps is not a twin reverb but a late tube Pro Reverb 2 12s with the bluish grey grill. I hooked up my steel to it yesterday and it sounds great; or as great as a Fender can sound. Ouch!( Peavey all the way) Dons wife appreciates all the condolences you folks have sent. I printed them out for her and after tears she told me how much she appreciates all of you. CC

I just want to say I'm proud of the way everybody here chose not to take advantage of this sad situation. This is the kind of thing that makes me proud to be a member of this community.

Thanks to all of you that have inquired and sent emails. Apparently there are a lot of folks that read the forum but are not members. I have had people who got my phone # somehow and also my address and have put there names in the hat and offered more money than we have priced but I told them that forum people get the first shot. Pictures and decriptions will follow tomorrow. We n know that some things are underpriced but we need a quick sale. More later.

Pending pictures, year & model, and quality info - on first impressions I believe these prices are very low...A Vegas 400 often sells for $350. Also, a Gibson LP for $280???? Not if its a "real one"...

While I commend the assistance you are providing to the new widow - I disagree with your methodology and are concerned that the pricing may be unfairly low particularly considering the situation.

The use of a hock shop or music store for determining value automatically puts the value at least 30% lower than private retail. Given liquid marketplaces like ebay or this forum, there is plenty of examples available to set a fair, and even a slightly aggressive price.

Can't we do better than this fellows?
