$850 is the new price. And here it is:
This used to be a D-12, when it was built in 1974 (it still has a 12-string changer and 12-string keyhead). It is in very good condition and sounds great. Includes original hardshell case.
All standard changes plus: RKL which lowers the 6th string G# to F# and raises the 1st string F# to G#.
I'm also interested in a possible trade (+ additional cash) for a double neck steel.

Hey Everybody,
Bump for a good friend.
Can't see why someone doesn't gobble this one up. I had an MSA U-12 from that era...my first steel! Yeah, I really jumped in with both feet on that one...being a novice and all. But when I heard that sound that day in the showroom, I couldn't resist. And this baby can be anything you want it to be. Just add some parts and you've got a D-10, S-12, SD-12, etc.
Come on think about it...IMHO, you would be very happy with this sweetheart in your hands. |

| Nice looking , but i found the wider fret board a little bit uncomfortable on the lower octave, Altho the upper octave was a real nice playing. Besides the student of mine is looking for a real nice MSA in the 1000.00 range as that is all he has. I think a SD10 MSA or a MSA D10 would work out fine for him. Need 5 knees at least. Still looking! |

I see this guitar still has the 12 string peghead with pegs 1 and 12 removed. I guess that means the high G# string would be in what normally would be the 4th peg. Would that extra string length make string breakage more of a problem on the 3rd and 5th strings? It seems like it would. I remember a student that Blackie Taylor had in Calif. years ago that had a 12 string but he'd just removed the bottom two string for just that reason....JH

Hi guys,
I played an MSA U-12 for many years back in the 70's and can tell you that string breakage was never a problem. Yes, there is extra length from the roller nut to the tuning peg, but it didn't cause any problems.
These MSA U-12's are real sweet and clear as a bell. Of course, almost non-existant cabinet drop and staying in tune are the MSA hallmarks. Someone will be very happy with this guitar...not to mention how much the value would increase if it were restored to full D-12 condition. |

I will add that string breakage is not a problem with these longer keyhead MSA's. The ten string heads from this era are the same length and I have not had a string break after a few months of daily hard use on the third string.
These MSA's were built to last!

In the year and a halfv I've had this guitar I've broken maybe 3 G#s... a couple of high B's and one low B.

Seriously, I've never broken a single string on my guitar--the first time Tim sits down behind it, he breaks the fifth string in two minutes.

This beauty's still for sale. To pre-emptively answer a question too; I do not have the parts that were taken of this guitar when it was converted from a D-12 to an SD-10.
