Value Added Tax (VAT) in Europe is somewhat the equivalent to US sales tax except that here in Europa VAT is far superior to the percentages applied in the various US states
here in France VAT is 19.6 %
i think Ireland it is 21 %
how much is VAT in Finland, Denmark, & Sweden ?
European custom duties include VAT plus processing fees
only renegades like myself try to avoid having to pay Custom fees and VAT on imported goods
well i don't often get away w: it !
in other words 2780 $ is quite a sum compared to the original buying price.
add shipping, insurance, custom fees and a commission to that buying price and you'll find that that's the price to pay for a legally imported instrument.
i get people askin' me to get them instruments from the US - often they find it's expensive - of course it is !
i then tell them go ahead & get it yourself & once you get it legally over here - tell me how much did it cost you ?
how 'bout some testimony from European Fo'Bros that did it themselves and how much did they have to pay to get them over legally ! |

Do you like the guitar enough to make an offer or are you just commenting for effect??
If you are not a serious buyer maybe you should EMAIL Ted your opinions about his pricing.
I notice that you are not the only person who does this but,IMHO, you are definitely heading towards becoming one of the most prolific espousers of opinion on the Forum.
How would you feel if you were trying to sell something and people who obviously had no intention of buying kept commenting and/or complaining about the product, price, or whatever? |

Bravo Big Time Alan-----you've hit the proverbial nail on the head! I recently placed an ad on another board for some Fender parts and probably have 50 or more pile on with their own "humorous" comments and in the end I couldn't see what or why it was necessary. Like most I'm sure I just read the ad and if it's not to my liking move on! No need to discuss or dissect things on the Forum pages.
Of course, by adding out own 2 cents worth aren't we just perpurtrating the whole thing? Apologies to Ted for this--hope your LDG sells for whatever you want!

I just bought a blonde Sho-Bud Pro III Custom (converted to LDG-style) from Ted unseen (apart from some fairly low-resolution pics), and it was every bit as nice as described - just as when he sold me my Nashville 1000 earlier this year.
IMO Ted's pricing is very reasonable from a European perspective. For a European player, buying that LDG for 1,500 GBP would cost about the same as importing one (when VAT, insurance, customs duties, shipping and handling has been added) selling for $1,800-2,000 from the US - not much to complain about, judging from what nice LDG's usually go for.

Gentlemen,I would like to thank all the Forumites who stood in my corner.I have been trading in steel guitars, amps and accessories for 18 yrs,and its not my style to try and make a fast buck by overcharging.I have customers all over Ireland,UK and Europe, even in USA,and have not had a single complaint regarding the price I charge, and the goods I supply.I get excellent feedback from all my customers, and when they are happy,I am even happier.
Regarding the LDG thats on offer, when was the last time you laid your eyes on a Sho-Bud
LDG with a metal neck and 5 k/levers factory fitted? Bobbe Seymour has been trading much longer than me,and he told me that he has only seen about 3 in his lifetime of selling Sho-Bud guitars. Bottom line, the guitar is unique. For the benifit of the European players who have an interest in this instrument, the price includes VAT,and for an extra £25.00 I will deliver it to your door if you live in Western Europe,Ireland or UK.
Per Berner...I knew you would just love that Sho-Bud,thanks for your buisness.
